A position for a PhD student is now available in the Laboratory of Gastrointestinal Immunology at the University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein Kiel.

Our research is focused on the immunological mechanisms of intestinal inflammation and tumorigenesis. The successful candidate will investigate the role of lipid antigen-reactive T lymphocytes in inflammatory bowel diseases including in vivo studies in transgenic and conditional knockout mice and in vitro studies using primary cell cultures, antigen presentation assays, flow cytometry, and confocal microscopy.

As part of the DFG Cluster of Excellence “Inflammation at Interfaces“, we offer an exceptional research environment for the study of inflammatory disorders including modern research facilities and state-of-the-art technology. In addition, access to the University Medical Center Schleswig Holstein and the Comprehensive Center for Inflammation Medicine ensures excellent opportunities for translational research.

The successful candidate should be highly motivated and qualified and have a master/diploma in biology, biochemistry or a related field. Experience in cell culture, flow cytometry and standard techniques in molecular biology such as PCR and western blot are desirable but not essential.
Work should commence at the earliest possible date. The duration of the project is scheduled for 3 years. Salary is according to TV-L E13 (65%).
