Inauguration of the Institute for Experimental Medicine
Today the Institute for ExperimentalMedicine was inaugurated
21. June 2011 Minister Jost de Jager pointed out how important the new institute is for world class research and handed the key to the new builing to Prof. Andreas Tholey and Prof. Jens Scholz (Director of the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein). The renovated building offers on more then 1000 sqm space to 70 staff members. The main focus of the new institute is inflammation research: Altogether six research groups work on model systems, proteomics and bioanalytic, molecular inflammation medicine, molecular neurology, evolutionary medicine and epidemiology. The Institute is managed by a steering committee which consists of the leaders of the six research groups. All members of the steering committee are also members of the Cluster of Excellence "Inflammation at Interfaces". One goal of the Institute is to enhance the translation of research findings into patient care through a tight cooperation with the CCIM.
