Prof. Fickenscher on the Board of the International Union of Microbiological Societies
16 September 2011: Prof. Helmut Fickenscher, M.D., Director of the Institute for Infection Medicine of the University Medical Center of Schleswig-Holstein (UKSH), Kiel Campus, was elected for a term of three years to the Executive Board of the International Union of Microbiological Societies (IUMS) during the XV International Congress of Virology on 11 September 2011 in Sapporo, Japan. The IUMS is the international umbrella organization of national microbiological societies and one of 29 scientific unions of the International Council of Scientific Unions (ICSU). Founded in 1927, the IUMS scientific association is committed to promote the microbiological sciences through international cooperation.
